Site entry round-up (9/10/06) – Super Sites
For folks who also get the email version of the recent site entries, you’ll notice that there will be quite a bit in that list. But here’s just some of the highlights from the list. I start with this trend I’m seeing for Super Sites from news organizations and the like. And when I mean, Super Sites, I mean big production packages with custom design and treatments:
Altered Oceans – Los Angeles Times look on the crisis in the seas. It still bothers me that the pop-window is a way to launch a multimedia piece. A lot of information in this package an presented in a consumable fashion.
Oil: A Travelogue of Addiction – Chicago Tribune traces gasoline sold at a Chicago-area station back to its origins. Hear what happens when you actually hire true voice talent for your narrations? Sound so much better.
Yearbook 2006 – This independent site, well designed and integrated with video, chronicles the interrupted senior year of the Benjamin Franklin H.S. in New Orleans.
Immigration: The Border Within – Dang there’s a lot of text in this Rocky Mountain News package. Otherwise, some good SoundSlides integration and navigational devices once it loads on your browser.
